I am halfway through a four-year LLB (Honours) degree at a Scottish University. I have been researching the possibility of qualifying in England as the opportunities are far better with City firms. I may be eligible for some exemptions from the GDL once I graduate, which means I may be able to study it part-time over a year, but if I do not qualify for any exemptions I would plan to study it full-time over a year. I would then do the LPC.

What are the chances of a big City firm being keen to sponsor me throughout this? Would I have to apply for a training contract with them at the beginning of my fourth year at university? Or would it be better to do the Diploma in Legal Practice followed by a traineeship in Scotland and then do the transfer test?
