I qualified three years ago into my firm’s insurance litigation department. This was a massive mistake but have not been able to extract myself from it. The work is dull and most of the time I have to force myself to look at files as the subject matter bores me to tears.

I have been trying for over two years (on and off) to secure a new role in a more general commerical dispute resolution department with a London firm and, although I get to the final stages of the interview process, always fall at the final hurdle. So far I have had five knockbacks, two cited “not technically strong enough”, one “not right experience” and two said it didn’t seem like I wanted the job enough. I am a clever, hard-working person and can only put my lack of techincal knowledge down to the fact that I am not interested in the subject matter.
