I am about to start pupillage at a respectable chambers outside London that deals with crime, family, employment and general common law. My plan was to practise public law in London, where I intend to return at some point.

My chambers told me that tenancy is most likely after I finish pupillage and they are not impressed by people who take pupillage only to leave straight after. Should I accept tenancy, assuming I get it, stay a few years then return to London and edge my way into a public law set somehow – or should I start applying for third sixes in London as soon as I start pupillage and take anything I can get, as long as it facillitates my return?
