Having worked as a legal secretary for six years, I decided to take a law degree part-time, three evenings a week and have obtained an offer from one of the best universities in London for part-time degrees. I have a reasonably stable work history in the legal field – as a legal secretary – though I have only been working in London since January. (I previously worked in the Midlands.)

I now work for one of the top US firms in London and plan to stay here until I have completed my degree. I know it is important to start applying for training contracts in my second year of my degree; is there anything I can do to increase my chances of gaining a training contract (I may be lucky enough to gain one with my current firm but I will still have to go through the applications procedure) and would my experience as a legal secretary be relevant when it comes to interview?
