“I am a Nigerian-qualified lawyer and have noticed that when job adverts say Commonwealth-qualified lawyers are eligible to apply this does not cover Nigerian-qualified lawyers. What could be the reason? Britain was our colonial master and our legal system is derived from the English common law sytem.
“I have also applied for jobs where my experience and training meet the requirements but always get an “unfortunately at this time…” response. I have even considered applying for a training contract and re-training in the UK if this will help.
