Beiten Burkhardt’s Kiev managing partner Felix Rachwitz predicts that 2007 will be “a very important year” for the Ukrainian legal market. The German independent launched its 18-lawyer Ukraine practice in 2004 with just a handful of lawyers; Rachwitz hopes to double the number of fee earners by the end of 2007.

As is evident from the ambitions of Ukraine’s law firms, both local and international, the business world’s focus continues to travel east, with a raft of mergers, office and practice launches transforming the market in Kiev.
