The appointments of Queen’s Counsel (QC) announced on 20 July by the Lord Chancellor and based on the recommendations of the QC Selection Panel, all meet the high standards of silk, but we believe are drawn from a broader range of barristers and solicitors than has been the case in the past.
Selection panel members saw our task as to maintain the highest standards while ensuring that the opportunity to take silk is equally open to all who have the requisite qualities. The new arrangements provide for real changes which have enabled us to achieve this.
