Whitehall’s most senior lawyer, Juliet Wheldon, has moved to become the chief legal adviser to the Bank of England.
Wheldon, who spent the last six years as Treasury Solicitor and head of the Government Legal Service (GLS), joined the Bank of England at the start of this month, replacing Len Berkowitz, who held the post from early 2005.
