IT veteran Bill Kirby has seen the legal technology industry develop from the early days of personal computing to the heady days of BlackBerrys and wi-fi. After 10 years as sales director for software provider axxia, he has struck out on his own, combining his IT and business expertise to form the Professional Choice Consultancy. At this juncture, he tells Legal IT about how the industry has evolved.
He says: “I am increasingly struck by a gap in fundamental knowledge between the owners of the business and the IT function; so much so that over the last three years, I have spent more time than ever talking with firms about business strategy, generating business plans and subsequently feeding requirements from IT.”
