Time and again we hear tales of corporate scandal, such as the crimes at Enron, the irregularities at Banesto or the improprieties at Parmalat, and yet they seem to wash over us with a wave of indifference. Awareness does not appear to be radically changing behaviour to respond to these scare stories.

Most compliance education to date has embraced the fear created by these cases and has thus been positioned as defensive, protecting ourselves from the havoc that could be wreaked by employees. The tone is protective and moving away from risk, with very little content related directly to the individual learner and their world.
