Globalisation is the main driver for networking between the UK and continental Europe – the shape of the world economy drives the direction of instructions around the world.

To a lesser extent, we are overseeing an increasing use of UK (and US) law as a reference in international contracts. This is clearly the case in the financial services industry. Moreover, the provision of legal services for large cross-border transactions is mostly, but not exclusively, based on the Anglo-Saxon approach. The influence of European Union law, bringing most of the national regulatory environments under one single European roof, has also encouraged dialogue between Europe’s legal practitioners, whether in-house lawyers or external advisers.
