While the legal industry at large continues to debate the value of online services, Pinsent Masons has blazed ahead on this particular technology frontier by providing free information on its OUT-LAW website. The firm has not only carved a niche for itself by offering extensive resources on IT and e-commerce law – it has created a widelyrecognised brand.

Legal Week caught up with John Salmon, a partner specialising in IT law who heads the firm’s e-commerce team, and Struan Robertson, a senior associate who has been editor of OUT-LAW since it began six years ago this month. The website has a full-time editorial team and offers more than 6,000 pages of news, guides, checklists and contracts updated on a daily basis, through which it has established a loyal user community.
