Cleary shuts door on Japanese operation

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has ditched its underperforming Tokyo office after 18 years in Japan.

The five-lawyer office officially closed at the end of April, with its sole partner, corporate lawyer Tsunemasa Terai, retiring from the firm to pursue an academic career full-time.
