A contender for the mobile e-mail crown, the Nokia E61 has a landscape screen, a built-in thumbpad and a host of wireless options for business users who rely on messaging en route. It comes with 3G and Wi-Fi for high-speed internet access nearly anywhere, and Bluetooth for connecting a wireless headset or GPS receiver.

This is the first Symbian Series 60 smartphone to incorporate a similar styling to the ubiquitous Blackberry; the E61 is a dramatic break from the clamshell Nokia 9300 and 9500 messaging phones. Users can view and edit e-mail attachments with the right software installed, and synchronise the calendar and contacts with Outlook on their computers. Users have 128MB of permanent storage and a mini-SD slot for additional memory.
