It seems some Clifford Chance (CC) partners feel managing partner-elect David Childs is proving less a breath of a fresh air than a chill wind, as the cuddly cost-cutter prepares to take charge at Canary Wharf.

The Diary had previously assumed those partners who said they were moving to the North Pole if Childs was elected were joking. Yet three intrepid CC partners are taking time away from the latest collateralised debt obligation to risk life and limb by trekking across the polar ice cap – perhaps to claim the unsullied territory for CC, while raising some cash for charidee.
