Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Allen & Overy (A&O) have both moved to shake up their conflicts-checking procedures, it has emerged, just weeks before the pair are due to face the results of separate investigations by the Law Society.

This week, Freshfields confirmed that London corporate partner Julian Francis will be heading up its day-to-day risk management issues, which will involve the bulk of the City giant’s conflicts-vetting procedure. Incoming chief executive Ted Burke will still have overall responsibility for the firm’s decisions on the issue.
