The Government has unveiled the members of the inaugural Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC), the body which will take responsibility for appointing judges in England and Wales. Brick Court Chambers’ joint head Jonathan Sumption QC and former Law Society President Edward Nally have been named as the two professional members of the new independent 14-member body. Senior appeals judge Lord Justice Sir Robin Auld is one of four judicial members, while Professor Hazel Genn, a law professor at University College London, is the most high profile of four lay members in the new body.
