When 200-lawyer firm A&L Goodbody moved office in 2000, it took the opportunity to overhaul its information technology. Now, five years later, priorities are on redesigning the business process to extract maximum value from the IT already there. To this end the firm is looking at automated document generation so that documents can be produced in a more structured and scientific way.

The firm’s IT manager, Susan Kemp, says that they are currently piloting a multi-site search product, Solsearch from Solcara. “The number of source sites for lawyers to do research can be an issue in terms of risk management and the efficient use of research time. This software will provide an umbrella search across multiple external and internal information sources.”
