US/UK legal teams prepare for lead roles on multi-billion pound merger of British cable giants

A raft of law firms have been appointed to advise on the £5.5bn merger talks between British cable giants NTL and Telewest, Legal Week can reveal.
It is understood that Sullivan & Cromwell and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer are advising Telewest on US and UK issues respectively, with Wall Street leader Davis Polk & Wardwell securing the US advisory spot for NTL.
