After months of waiting, the Bar Council and the Law Society have unveiled the new nine-member independent selection panel charged with considering applications for the award of Queen’s Counsel (QC). The new selection procedure is expected to get under way imminently.

However, sources at the Bar say the Bar Council has indicated that the forms aspiring QCs will need to fill in will not be ready for some time, meaning the start date for the new system to be in operation could still be some way off.
