The Diary is always pleased to see that rarest of things, a lawyer with a heart. So it was great to hear the story about Philadelphia attorney John MacKoul.

When Johnny Boy, a partner at local firm Stevens & Lee, went into hospital for a heart transplant, it was good to see that he did not neglect his clients, according to US paper Reading Eagle. Such was his dedication to his cause that during his stay in Temple University Hospital, he insisted on installing a mini office in his room, including a laptop, fax machine and phone.
