Alliance & Leicester raids Merrill Lynch for legal head

Alliance & Leicester has a new head of legal, it has emerged, with Carolyn Hay taking over from Katherine Hughes.

The FTSE 100 building society appointed Hay, who was previously the head of corporate in the legal department at Merrill Lynch, just before the summer after Hughes chose not to return from maternity leave.
