U-turn as Law Soc set for Freshfields conflict probe

freshfields: barred from m&s deal Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer looks set to face a high-profile Law Society investigation following pressure from council members for Chancery Lane to take a stand on conflicts of interest.

Council members have told Legal Week that the society is to launch a formal inquiry into Freshfields’ controversial role advising retail tycoon Philip Green on his bid for Marks & Spencer (M&S) – despite having previously advised the company.
