Spanish giant Garrigues has won the high-profile role of advising the organisers of Madrid’s 2012 Olympic bid as it confirms its position as one of Spain’s leading sports law departments.

The project, which is being headed by Miguel Gordillo, one of Garrigues’ co-managing partners, sees the firm enter into an agreement with Fundacion Madrid 2012 – the body organising the city’s Olympic bid – to provide tax and legal advice. Garrigues will represent Fundacion up to the final pitch, known as the Candidature File, that is to be submitted to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
