The vast majority (83%) of in-house lawyers who responded to the recently completed Legal Director/ Shoosmiths Benchmarker survey agreed that the value added services offered by law firms are a very important aspect of the service they provide. However, they are less sure when it comes to putting their collective fingers on exactly what constitutes ‘added value’.

Answers to the question “How would you define value added services?” elicited an extraordinary range of answers, from the literal – “doing more than is absolutely necessary” – to the downright cryptic – “it is like an elephant, hard to describe, but when you see it, you know what is”.
