Italian authorities raid freshfields

The Rome arm of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has been raided by Italian state prosecutors searching for legal documents in relation to a Freshfields client. A spokesperson for Freshfields confirmed that prosecutors entered the firm’s Rome office to obtain documents on 18 February.

The documents related to Freshfields client Sergio Cragnotti and his involvement in attempting to buy collapsed food company Cirio Finaziaria.
