Shrugging aside professional courtesy, Legal Week‘s panel of leading business lawyers has branded the Hutton Inquiry a ‘whitewash’ that has damaged the wider credibility of public inquiries.
These are the key findings of the latest Legal Week/EJ Legal Big Question survey, which found 65% of respondents either agreeing or strongly agreeing that the report into the death of government scientist Dr David Kelly was a ‘whitewash’.

Almost 80% of the respondents said the inquiry, which controversially last month exonerated the Government of any blame for the weapon scientist’s death, had damaged the reputation of inquiries, with 16% saying it had ‘severely damaged’ their reputation.
