The Financial Reporting Review Panel, the regulator that investigates accounting abuses by companies, has appointed a new chairman, Bill Knight. Knight is a solicitor and former senior partner at Simmons & Simmons. He was also formerly chairman of the Law Society’s company law committee and currently holds the posts of deputy chairman of council at Lloyd’s of London and chairman of the enforcement committee of the General Insurance Standards Council.

Knight has been appointed to succeed Richard Sykes QC as chairman of the Panel. Richard Sykes retires from the panel on 1 March, 2004, after serving as chairman for over four years.
