Hopes that the European Union (EU) would grant in-house lawyers key privilege rights have been dashed after an intervention by the EU’s member states.
The move saw the EU’s Council of Ministers reject proposals to grant in-house lawyers’ correspondence professional privilege in European Commission (EC) merger notification cases in a meeting on 27 November.
