Akin Gump/Shaw Pittman merger ends

Merger talks between US giant Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Washington DC-based firm Shaw Pittman have been called off.

A spokesperson for 945-lawyer Akin Gump confirmed to Legal Week that talks, which began in September, were off but would not give a reason for the break down.
