Doughty Hanson has chosen Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom to advise on its first deal in France, establishing the US firm as the de facto lead counsel to the private equity giant.

The e390m (£272m) deal saw Doughty Hanson acquire 100% of industrial batteries manufacturer SAFT from Alcatel. The deal is subject to regulatory approval but is expected to close before the end of the year. London-based Skaddens corporate partner Allan Murray-Jones led the team advising Doughty Hanson alongside banking partner Mark Darley.
