When, in June, Gide Loyrette Nouel became the first French firm ever to launch a UK practice, it signalled a ground-breaking new step in the development of a French law firm.
In an uncertain market, organic expansion overseas had remained for many French firms a commitment too far and despite the prominence of Paris as a legal centre, the city’s legal exports have been notoriously limited.
