Partners urge caution over conflicts

Two-thirds of UK partners believe that law firms should not be allowed to act for clients on both sides of a deal, according to a survey of senior business lawyers, as controversy over law firm conflicts mounts.
In this week’s Legal Week/EJ Legal Big Question survey of more than 100 law firm partners, 64% of the panel disagreed with the notion that firms should be allowed to act on both sides of a deal, while 48% of the respondents branded Chinese walls as ‘ineffective”.
