Other firms to dissolve include San Jose’s largest and oldest firm, Skjerven Morrill, Boston firm Hill & Barlow and Chicago practice Peterson & Ross. The dissolutions provide evidence of the squeeze being exerted on US law firms, some of which expanded too quickly during the technology fuelled boom of the late 1990s, leaving them vulnerable to the sharp downturn that followed.
