Susan Fanning, DLAManagement at UK businesses could be forgiven for wondering whether the constant stream of new employment legislation will ever end. In recent years they have had to cope with a raft of changes covering such diverse areas as working time, data protection and fixed-term working.

Unfortunately, it is clear that there will be little, if any, respite in the years to come. During the next 12 months, a wide range of legislation will be introduced including the Employment Act 2002 with its so-called ‘family-friendly’ provisions.
