Most of the large Dublin firms have struck non-exclusive alliances with Belfast practices to be able to provide a one-stop pan-Irish proposition to international clientsOne in 10 lawyers with a Northern Ireland practice certificate are in-house lawyers. The latest Northern Ireland Law Society figures say that of 2,029 lawyers in the jurisdiction, there are 278 in-house lawyers. More then 60% of them are women.

Viridian, the former Northern Ireland Electricity supplier, is one of the few Northern Irish companies an in-house legal function. But it still farms out work to a panel of firms including Carson McDowell, L’Estrange & Brett and London firm CMS Cameron McKenna.
