Regulatory pressure on Europe’s embattled multi-disciplinary partnerships (MDPs) is set to increase drastically next year under plans by two of Western Europe’s largest economies to introduce tough rules banning tied law firms from advising their parents’ audit clients.
Lawyers at the big four accountants’ legal arms have told Legal Week Global they believe planned legislation in France and Germany designed to toughen audit regulation will significantly impact on their law practices.
