The Law Society is to appear before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington tomorrow (17 December) in a last-minute effort to remove UK lawyers from some of the more onerous requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
The head of the Law Society’s international unit, Alison Hook, is expected to criticise the scope of the Act, which covers all UK lawyers advising clients with listings on the US stock exchanges.
