Lawyers at Orange’s 40-strong UK legal team are waiting to find out how many in-house jobs will be lost as the telecoms giant this month announced it was to shed 270 jobs from its UK operations.

The company has confirmed that a number of the lay offs will affect Orange’s in-house legal team and the redundancies have already claimed the job of senior counsel Steve Coope, the company’s second most senior UK lawyer. Orange UK head of legal Amanda Doyle is not expected to be affected by the cuts.
