ABA challenges bid to force firms to reveal privacy codes

The American Bar Association (ABA) is to fight a fresh attempt to regulate lawyers at federal level with a legal challenge against the US’ trade watchdog.

The ABA on 25 September launched a civil claim in the US District Court for the District of Columbia against the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over a controversial demand for law firms to notify clients of their confidentiality procedures.
