Law Society under fire for fraud law policy vacuum

The Law Society has drawn fire from City lawyers after admitting that it has no policy on the controversial US Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which threatens to regulate swathes of UK lawyers by the back door.

The admission by Chancery Lane officials, who appeared unaware of the potential threat posed by the act to the independence of UK lawyers, will further undermine the society’s City credentials.
