The entire magic circle is facing the threat of breach of confidentiality claims after being ordered to hand over thousands of documents related to the controversial bankruptcy of Enron.

The New York bankruptcy court handling Enron is in the process of issuing subpoenas to Clifford Chance (CC), Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Linklaters, Slaughter and May and Allen & Overy’s (A&O’s) allied Luxembourg firm Beghin & Feider.
The move comes after 45 firms in the US, UK and Europe were last month given notice of forthcoming subpoenas, which are expected to be issued later this week on behalf of the trustees of the collapsed energy giant.
