Hopes that China would open its legal services market have been dashed after the Chinese Government this month finalised new practice rules that promise to further clamp down on foreign lawyers operating in the country.
New practice rules, which are to be published on 1 September by the Chinese Ministry of Justice, include provisions that set in stone restrictions on international firms operating in China, including banning any form of alliance between
foreign and domestic firms.
