Legal directors who sit on the board at Ftse 100 companies are reaping the rewards in the pay stakes with the highest paid head of legal bringing in almost three quarters of a million pounds in basic pay and bonuses last year.
But lawyers in board level management positions still remain few and far between according to a report on top management pay, and the elite band of lawyers who sit on the board as legal directors continue to lag behind company secretaries and finance directors on the pay front.
