The European Commission (EC) is calling for tougher restrictions on multi-disciplinary partnerships (MDP) following the completion of its post-Enron investigation into auditor independence.
On 16 May the EC published guidelines for accountants after an inquiry into auditor independence launched by internal market commissioner Frits Bolkestein in the wake of the collapse last year of US energy company Enron.
