Continuing with our vaguely culinary theme, you can tell the market’s quiet when the senior management of one of the world’s largest law firms is reduced to serving in the staff canteen, but that is what Shearman & Sterling’s David Helenaik and Robert Treuhold, senior and managing partner respectively, found themselves doing last month.
Sadly for the catering staff at Shearmans, it is unlikely that they will re-appear for any more shifts. It was a gesture of goodwill/PR stunt (delete as applicable) to show their “respect and admiration” for the firm’s administrative employees.
