Multi-disciplinary partnerships (MDPs) were already fighting an uphill battle in trying to penetrate the highly competitive legal market when along came Enron. Now their plight is tougher than ever, as reflected by the 41% of the 100 senior business lawyers on the Global Question panel who said that MDPs should be prohibited. For the 59% in favour of their existence, it is usually with strings attached.

US firm Morrison & Foerster’s London managing partner, Kristian Wiggert, says “MDPs should be allowed, but it is important to be careful about conflicts.”
