US firms call truce over pay

graph1 The top US firms in London have called a truce with their City rivals over assistant pay by freezing salaries at last year’s levels.

A string of leading firms (see box) have confirmed to Legal Week that they will restrict salary increases by moving their assistants up to the next band, rather than increasing the bands themselves.
