Why did you join Hutchison 3G?
I was attracted to the opportunities presented by Hutchison 3G as the only company dedicated to third-generation (3G) multimedia services. It is a new environment and presents new opportunities.
As the first general counsel to a new group, what will be the main challenges in your first year of office?
I have six other lawyers on infrastructure and media and three in property. I plan to extend the media team by three to four lawyers. I will oversee all legal and regulatory affairs including government and community issues and carrier issues. My aim over the next year is to ensure that all these departments support the business leading up to the offering of our 3G services in the second half of this year.
