City giant review of international business leads to proposed breakaway

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is set to spin off its three-office Central European practice following a review of the City giant’s international business.
The move follows a review of the firm’s Prague, Bratislava and Budapest offices, between them totalling 74 fee earners, amid concerns that the practices do not fit into Freshfields’ strategy of targeting major jurisdictions and maintaining an equity-only partnership.
